Hello all,
We’ve been looking at economic theory thus far in our articles, and while that is crucial for having a firm grasp of the subject, it’s only one side of the coin. Modern-day economists in particular emphasize the importance of actually looking at the real world: gathering and analyzing data to answer interesting and relevant questions.
This aspect is all about coming up with and testing theories, while also considering their policy implications, and has become something of a frontier in economic research since the empirical revolution of the 1980s, in which the proportion of data-centered work published in esteemed economic journals jumped from 30% to 50%. That trend is only increasing, with software making it easier to absorb, analyse and produce even more data.
We at SoBasically want to extend our horizons. So, with a loudening drum roll, we are excited to announce a new feature to our portfolio - Econ IRL:
Your Saturday mornings will no longer start with just a sublime economics piece. You will now also enjoy a quick, paragraph-length summary of a robust economics paper, one that is immersed in empirical data and put together by professional economists. With this feature, we will deliver both theory and real-world findings, adding an extra bit of horse-power to the engine of your economics car.
Hopefully, this will shift the entire aggregate demand for our services (pardon the pun).
‘Till next time,
SoBasically
